The Cambridge’s Christmas 2020 Reply

It’s always fun to start off a new week and a new project with a little something extra to smile about. Today I got the Cambridge’s Christmas 2020 Reply.  Since we all know how cute their photos can be, and because there is no frontrunner for the shot…I won’t keep you in suspense.

The Cambridge Christmas Card
The Cambridge Christmas Card 2020, this was sent to family, friends, and charities. — Photo by Matt Porteous

It was a bit of a shocker this year as you can see.  The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge opted to use the photo that featured on their personal Christmas card for 2020

The Cambridge’s Christmas 2020 Reply features a photo of the entire Cambridge family.  Matt Porteous shot the photo at Anmer Hall in the Autumn of 2020. This is the reply I was most anxious to see because, unlike most years, we didn’t have any hint of what might appear on the card sent to members of the public.

In years past this card has been one of Prince George’s Birthday photos. It has also been a photo from an overseas tour and a shot from Prince Louis’ Christening. Last year, the public was treated to the photo the couple sent out in the private card in 2018. The result was a Prince Louis looking so much younger than he was at the time. No matter, Matt Porteous took a beautiful photo and I am more than happy to have it.

The text on the back of the Cambridge’s Christmas 2020 Reply followed what has long since become the expected form.

My Thoughts on the Christmas Card

I think this was the photo that was called for after the year that was 2020.  This is the first time I have heard of the two cards matching.  I think it sends a message of practicality…but it also sends the message that maybe, just maybe, we are all on an even playing field this year and we are indeed all in this together.
