This morning in Bhutan the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took off on a hike up to Paro Taktsang, the Tiger’s Nest monastery, which dates to 1692.
Kensington Palace said today “promises to be a very special one” and noted “it is a magical place the Duke and Duchess are thrilled to be visiting. Their hike will allow them to get a real sense of the natural and spiritual beauty of the country”.
This trek is not and never will be for the faint of heart or those that are not in the best of shape. it can take 5 to 6 hours to complete and I read something about 1,000 steps…yeah I’ll sit this one out but if you ever go, feel free to FaceTime or Skype me, I’ll cover the charges.
The monastery is near the cave where Guru Padmasambhava – who is credited with introducing Buddhism to Bhutan – is said to have meditated for three years, three months, three weeks, and three days in the 8th century.
So, shall we have a look at what Catherine chose to wear for this hike?
Her look consisted of several pieces. It appears Kate wore her Really Wild Clothing Shooting Waistcoat. Kate first wore the soft leather piece for a day of outdoor activities at Widehorizons Adventure Centre in 2012. Kate’s waistcoat is, like most everything she wears, sold out, but the Nubuck Shoot Waistcoat is very similar for those seeking an alternative.
As for her footwear it looks as though the Duchess is wearing her Penelope Chilvers Long Tassel Boots. The $475 handmade boot is cut close to the ankle for a more feminine fit, has a scalloped detail at the zip panel, and a leather tassel on the zip pull. It is fully leather-lined and has a Goodyear Welted Commando rubber sole. Kate has had the boots for many years, and she even wore them in this now iconic shot of her in 2004 in front of Blenheim Palace.
Kate’s Blouse today is Jeager’s Classic Linen Blouse and is available in a variety of sizes for £89.
Catherine also brought out my absolute favorite accessory of hers, one that I can swear to you I don’t leave my house without…her Ray-Ban Folding Wayfarer sunglasses, available to purchase at Macy’s for $150
I’ll close today’s first post by sharing a couple photos that document something very rare! William and Catherine were seen being quite lovey on this hike, holding hands and even walking arm in arm…

William and Kate described their experience today as amazing. 'I feel very lucky and fortunate to see such beautiful scenery' Kate said.

This tour just keeps the surprises coming! And we are loving EVERY SECOND of it…but we really will not miss the 10 hour or 9 1/2 hour time differences that also came with this tour.
We’ll see you later when William and Catherine attend a reception…
